We made it! We might have waived our white flags during the last week when there was more paperwork then I knew what to do with, but school is officially out, and today marks the kid’s first official day of summer vacation. And CUE all the working mamas out there joining me in a bit of excitement followed by a bit of panic. Our family is looking forward to some exciting activities planned, and some quality downtime together too. Especially since the newest addition to our family just arrived by way of Charlottesville, VA just a week or so ago.
Meet: Mr. Belvedere’s Mustache – our new Guinea Pig – much to Penny’s delight. Yes. Penny is a Yorkshire “Terrier” – who’s natural instinct is to HUNT rodents. So… needless to say – she’s been SUUUUPER excited to have this little piggy in our home. They have been getting along nicely so far, and the kids have been seriously amused watching them get used to each other. We used to joke that Penny is so tiny that most other dogs don’t really know what to do with her. That maybe a guinea pig would be a good size playmate. Judging by the photo – and the fact that Mr. B’s Mustache is still a baby, I think that might just work out. She’s not interested in eating him, thankfully, but she is SO excited to PLAY with him that she is getting a little impatient that he’s not that exciting just yet.
